New Star Trek 60th Anniversary Celebrations Unveiled!

-

Star Trek Day 2025 has brought news about the Star Trek 60th Anniversary. 2026 officially marks 60 years since the USS Enterprise first beamed onto our screens. Therefore, we’re expecting a big year to celebrate the franchise that means so much to all of us. Despite a few Star Trek series recently ending, it seems Paramount+ is going all in on events and digital activations next year.

The Star Trek franchise will mark its first-ever collaboration to bring the universe to life in LEGO brick form. Today, an official teaser was released for the LEGO Star Trek crossover. Star Trek: Khan, a brand-new audio-scriped podcast, also launched today. This was previously revealed at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con. You’ll be able to find our review here later today.

60th Anniversary Celebrations

The Star Trek Universe will celebrate its 60th Anniversary with a ton of celebrations. It appears that more announcements are to be made in 2026, but for now, we have a good idea of what to expect. First up, boats! Star Trek: The Cruise will set sail Feb 20th – 27th, 2026, offering fans a week filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences in celebration of the franchise’s 60th anniversary.

Star Trek will partner with DoSomething, the national hub for youth-centred leadership and service, to boldly go into 2026 with “Boldly Go Green,” a new campaign centred around making an environmental impact in multiple locations in celebration of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and Star Trek’s 60th anniversary.

Additionally, the Star Trek Franchise will enter the digital comic space with WEBTOON in 2026. It appears that we’ll be getting all new, original stories on the service, so keep an eye out for them. January 1st, 2026, will see the year-long celebrations kick off. The Star Trek Universe is getting a customised float at the Rose Parade, the annual New Year’s Day tradition in Pasadena, California. According to Paramount+, the float design will reflect values of hope, inclusivity, exploration, and unity.

Star Trek: Scouts – New Animated Series

Today, the brand new animated series of Star Trek: Scouts has launched. Scouts officially makes the first preschool extension of the Star Trek Universe. Yes, this is a series aimed at a younger generation. We’ve previously had the likes of Star Trek: Prodigy aimed towards younger audiences; it appears that Scouts goes back to even younger than that target audience.

Developed and produced by Nickelodeon Digital Studio in association with CBS Studios, Star Trek: Scouts follows three 8-year-old friends — JR, Sprocket, and Roo — as they train to become future Starfleet Explorers by going on epic, out-of-this-world missions that push them to “discover, gro,w and boldly go!”. Based on registered trademarks, we may see merchandise and more related to Star Trek: Scouts.

Two episodes of the short-form series (3-4 min each) are available now on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel, with the remainder of the 20-episode order continuing to roll out into next year. Interestingly, for those of us who watch the business side of the Star Trek Franchise, there is no involvement from Secret Hideout in Scouts.

Official Star Trek LEGO Collaboration

While it has been rumoured for some time, we finally have confirmation on the Official LEGO Star Trek Collaboration. Announced today, on Star Trek Day 2025, LEGO has something Star Trek-related coming soon. It seems we might be getting LEGO Star Trek: The Next Generation. For example, today’s teaser includes a LEGO character that consists of a minifigure in a TNG Red Command Uniform. Is this Captain Jean-Luc Picard? Perhaps!

Currently, no actual sets have been announced for the LEGO Star Trek collaboration. However, a webpage on the Official LEGO website is already online. You can find that here. There is an interesting detail. On the website, the phrase “Resistance is futile” is mentioned. Are we about to get some LEGO Borg-related content? This little phrase is, of course, linked to TNG and associated with The Borg, one of Trek’s scariest villains.

Currently, this LEGO Star Trek collaboration is just “Coming Soon”. However, if we examine other LEGO product lines, we can gain insight into what the global brand aims to achieve with the Star Trek license. For example, as someone who is a fan of the Star Wars franchise, which LEGO has held the license for over 25 years, we can see some potential product similarities.

No Slowing Down for Star Trek

While some may see the current “era” of the Star Trek Universe as slowing down, that does not appear to be the case. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds may be wrapping up Season Three this week, but let’s not forget that Seasons Four and Five are both coming soon, with Season Five going into active production at the moment. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is also expected to be released in 2026. The first trailer and character details were revealed at SDCC 2025.

Paramount has also launched a brand-new “hub” for the Star Trek 60th Anniversary. This is based on the website StarTrek60.com, which, at the time of reporting, is a landing page for a domain holder. We might predict that this could be updated in the future. However, it seems this website will eventually serve as a calendar of activities. New partnerships, events, and opportunities for fan participation will be here. Let’s hope this spreads worldwide and not just to the United States. Star Trek is for everyone.

We’re expecting more Star Trek 60th Anniversary news and celebrations as we inch closer and closer to 2026. For example, the New York Comic-Con is scheduled for October 2025, featuring an official Star Trek Universe panel and additional events.
