BREAKING NEWS – Star Trek: Khan, the audio drama, is arriving September 8th, 2025, on Star Trek Day! The audio drama series is set to explore the legendary character of Khan Noonien Singh during the nearly 20 years he is stranded on the planet Ceti Alpha V. The Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic Con 2025 revealed new details & that Trek Legends were joining the cast. New episodes will be available weekly on Mondays through to November 3rd 2025.
The audio-drama series stars Naveen Andrews as Khan. Additionally, the actor is joined by Wrenn Schmidt (For All Mankind) as Starfleet Lieutenant Marla McGivers and Sonya Cassidy as Doctor Rosalind Lear. However, the big and exciting news is that Star Trek veterans Tim Russ and George Takei will reprise their roles as Ensign Tuvok and Captain Sulu, respectively.
The Star Trek: Khan audio drama series is set between the events of the “Space Seed” episode of The Original Series and Nicholas Meyer’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. It’s written by Kirsten Beyer and David Mack, based on a story from Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer.

Star Trek: Khan chronicles the descent of Khan from superhuman visionary to the vengeful villain seen in Wrath of Khan. The notes of rage and devastation in Andrews’ rendition of Khan in the trailer hint at an emotionally devastating story. We can also hear him ordering weapons fire, hinting at the story perhaps having more action than expected.
We can also hear Marla McGivers talking of the planet’s dwindling resources. Khan is determined to survive, thrive, and escape from the dusty hellscape, forging a story of desperate survival. However, Wrath of Khan tells us that Ceti Alpha V collapses just six months after their arrival. We also know that McGivers does not survive to see Khan’s revenge.
There’s also a hint of the frame story, with Dr Lear being intensely focused on uncovering Khan’s devolution. She mentions monsters being made, not born, forming the basis of this fascination. This story takes place on the USS Excelsior, as evidenced by the presence of franchise legends Captain Sulu (George Takei) and Ensign Tuvok (Tim Russ). Although what shocking revelations she uncovers decades after the fact remain to be seen.
