Today, the Star Trek Universe returned to Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con, and they did not disappoint! The panel delivered a steady stream of updates from across the franchise, moderated by The Doctor himself, Robert Picardo! These include surprise looks at upcoming episodes from Strange New Worlds seasons 3 and 4!

Celebrating ‘A Space Adventure Hour’
Let’s start with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, where those present in Hall H today were in for a surprise. They were given an advanced screening of “A Space Adventure Hour”, an episode not due to air until Thursday, July 31, on Paramount+!
The murder mystery-themed episode is directed by fan-favorite Johnathan Frakes. Here’s a brief synopsis:
“When La’An (Chong) tests a prototype holodeck with a fictional case only she can solve, the consequences of failure get greater and greater, with the Enterprise hanging in the balance.”

Alongside the episode screening came the announcement that ‘A Space Adventure Hour’ would be available to stream FOR FREE from Thursday, July 31! This special way to celebrate the episode will be available on Pluto TV, Paramount+ channels on Amazon, Apple, and Roku, the Free Content Hub on Paramount+, and the Paramount+ YouTube channel. It will be accessible across these platforms until 6th August.
Into The Puppet-Verse
“There might have been an unexpected and terrible transporter accident,” said executive producer Akiva Goldsman on the stage at Hall H. “Which might have had some unexpected felt-like effects.”

Another surprise reveal for Strange New Worlds from Hall H today takes the Enterprise into another reality. No, the crew is not entering a two-dimensional reality again, in the beautiful style of Lower Decks. In a Season 4 episode, we’ll find Pike and the team exploring Strange New Worlds as puppets!
The episode is directed by Jordan Canning (Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock) with the puppets in question created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Previous attempts of the show taking a swing for left field (for Trek), for example, include Season 2’s musical episode ‘Subspace Rhapsody’. It got some mixed responses from fans; some loved it, some groan at the mention of it. Either way, it looks like this will be an episode to remember!

End of the Road for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds!
Before we even got to SDCC 2025, Paramount+ had already pulled the plug on Strange New Worlds. The end of SNW has taken many by surprise. However, Showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers have both commented that they are grateful to be given the final season. Therefore, the series can complete its “five-season mission” aboard Pike’s USS Enterprise.
The fourth season has just wrapped filming, moving to fully focus on its months-long post-production phase. Hopefully for Trekkies, that means it will air sometime in 2026. It’s no surprise that the wait between seasons of modern Star Trek has been frustrating for fans. However, it seems that the fifth season will start filming very soon, meaning the gap between Season 4 and Season 5’s release might not be too long.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is currently airing on Paramount+.
