Yep, it is that time of year once again. San Diego Comic Con 2025 is approaching at Warp Speed. However, while the event is massive for pop culture fans around the world, it’s very exciting for Star Trek fans. SO, as the Star Trek Universe Goes To SDCC 2025, what can we expect from the show? Paramount+ have revealed their plans for a Hall H panel on July 26th, with details on who and what we can expect from the iconic Star Trek Universe.
While all eyes are on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, there is something else to think about. While Paramount+ seem to be sunsetting the Star Trek Universe, it remains to be seen if any new announcements about the long-standing franchise will be made at this event. The reduction in Star Trek content has generated discussion among fans about the franchise’s trajectory and long-term strategy.
As we approach SDCC 2025, we eagerly await seeing what the event will reveal in terms of Paramount+’s commitment to the Star Trek Universe.

Star Trek Beaming To Hall H
Mark your calendars for Saturday, 26th July. The Star Trek Universe takes over Hall H—the largest venue at SDCC—for an action-packed 90-minute session running from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Pacific Time. That is 20:30 BST to 22:00 BST for UK fans. This year’s panel promises to deliver substantial content focusing on the two remaining Trek programmes currently in production following the conclusion of several other series in the franchise earlier this year.
The presentation will be guided by none other than veteran actor Robert Picardo. His involvement adds a nostalgic touch to proceedings, particularly meaningful given his upcoming return to the character in one of the showcased series. This is Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which will feature its panel during this showcase. Perhaps we might catch a glimpse of the upcoming live-action series.
According to Paramount’s announcement, attendees can expect “exclusive first looks, reveals, and surprises” throughout the session, alongside thoughtful discussions with creators and performers from both highlighted productions. This format continues the tradition of previous years’ panels while adapting to the current state of the franchise.

Strange New Worlds Season 3 Spotlight
The first portion of the panel will concentrate on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which will have just premiered its third season on 17th July. This timing creates a perfect opportunity for fans to engage with cast members about fresh developments in the narrative while speculation about future storylines remains at fever pitch.
Confirmed participants from the Strange New Worlds ensemble include Rebecca Romijn (who portrays Una Chin-Riley), Ethan Peck (Spock), Jess Bush (Christine Chapel), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), and Paul Wesley (James T. Kirk). The creative team will be represented by executive producers and co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, alongside executive producer Alex Kurtzman.
This segment will likely address viewer reactions to early Season 3 episodes while potentially offering hints about character arcs and plot developments scheduled for later in the run. However, with the announcement that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will end with Season 5, I imagine there will be some bittersweet reflection on the series so far. Additionally, might we get some hints about what we could be facing in the upcoming seasons?

A Reveal for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy at SDCC 2025
Perhaps the most anticipated element of the panel is Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. This production has been shrouded in mystery despite having completed filming its first season in February. Beyond casting announcements, virtually nothing has been revealed about this addition to the Star Trek Universe, making SDCC a perfect introduction. If we don’t get a trailer, we might be a little upset.
The Academy segment will feature an impressive lineup of talent, including actress Holly Hunter alongside newcomers Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins, and Bella Shepard. Executive producer Alex Kurtzman returns to the stage for this portion, joined by co-showrunner Noga Landau.
With Robert Picardo confirmed to reprise his role as The Doctor in Starfleet Academy, his position as moderator creates a dynamic as he guides discussion about a series in which he participates. Many speculate and hope that this segment of Star Trek’s time at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 will provide more information about the series. Only time will tell.
