After a thrilling episode last week, we’ve reached the halfway point for Star Trek’s latest series. However, how do we feel about the series so far? Promotional Pictures

Paramount PR has dropped promotional pictures for this week’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 1×05 “Spock Amok”. We’ve got some great looks at our characters who will appear in this week’s episode. However, can we take a moment to appreciate Starfleet putting its logo on everything? Even the wine glasses have them! A missed marketing opportunity there Paramount…

Teaser Trailer – Strange New Worlds 1×05

I must say that this week’s teaser trailer looks fantastic! However, I have many many questions. Additionally, it does appear we are returning to Starbase One, perhaps due to the damage the USS Enterprise sustained last week. For example, it does make me wonder if we’ll see Admiral Robert April (Adrian Holmes) once again. That would be fantastic.

However, it does seem like most of our cast are busy with things. For example, we see Doctor M’Benga dressed in fishing gear. Additionally, Captain Pike is wearing green and we also have Number One and La’an running combat simulations onboard the ship. Essentially this appears to be a “downtime” episode. We’ve had many of those throughout Star Trek history. Therefore it is fantastic to see Strange New Worlds embracing this.

Ready Room Clip – Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 1×05 “Spock Amok”

This week’s Ready Room preview clip gives us a scene we’ve been expecting. Of course, since we first reported that Gia Sandhu would appear as T’Pring, we’ve been waiting to see more of her and Spock. However, it seems Episode One of Strange New Worlds was only the start of this. The character is back this week and it appears both Spock and T’Pring are confronting relationship problems.

During the clip below, we see Spock during some sort of dream sequence preparing to fight.. himself? Additionally, it would appear Spock’s screen time in this episode revolves around his marriage to T’Pring. Thanks to Star Trek: The Original Series, we know this never goes to plan anyway.

Conclusion

Having a Star Trek “downtime” episode at the halfway point sounds perfect at first. However, will it live up to expectations, we’ll need to wait and see. Additionally, is this going to contain all our cast, or sideline some of the characters? Not that it massively matters, but I’m enjoying our time with Chief Engineer Hemmer and such.
