Prodigy Casting News – Billy Campbell Set To Return

-

It looks like lovable rogue Captain Thadiun Okona, played by Billy Campbell is set to return to the Star Trek universe in the upcoming animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy.

Captain Okona first appeared in the Next Generation episode ‘The Outrageous Okona‘, a largely forgettable entry in season 2’s mixed run. His character was an amalgamation of various rogues from Sci-Fi but had a somewhat Han Solo vibe. While the episode itself is pretty standard the character of Okona was well received by fans and it now looks like he is returning thanks to an interview he gave to the Comic Book Central podcast which was celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Billy Campbells more well-known role, The Rocketeer.

The conversation quickly turned to his time on Star Trek and it was during this section that he dropped the news of his return, saying:

“they’re bringing back some characters from the Star Trek universe that are like, legacy characters. So my guy is coming back.”

Billy Campbell goes on to reveal that Star Trek: Prodigy is actually a comedy series and is “hilarious”. It seems that his character will become the focus of attraction for the shows female lead which in turn annoys the shows male lead.
