SNEAK PEEK – Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ep 2

-

The Enterprise is BACK! Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has returned with a second season. Anson Mount returns as Captain Christopher Pike with the USS Enterprise crew. While Episode One “The Broken Circle” set our course into season 2, this week’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2, Ep 2 looks set to answer a big question. What is happening with Una’s (Rebecca Romijn) trial in Starfleet?

Each week Trek Central has brand new preview material for Strange New Worlds. Titled “Ad Astra Per Aspera”, this episode looks to deal with Una’s trial in Starfleet. We were given this glimpse at May’s recent MCM Comic Con London event. A special look was debuted, giving fans a preview of the episode.

“Commander Una faces court-martial along with possible imprisonment and dishonourable dismissal from Starfleet, and her defense is in the hands of a lawyer who’s also a childhood friend with whom she had a terrible falling out.”

Preview Pictures

This week we have brand new preview pictures for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ep 2. Melanie Scrofano as returns as Captain Batel in this week’s episode. As revealed by the Comic-Con clip, she’ll participate in the trial against Una. Additionally, the preview pictures reveal the series’ cast sat in the Enterprise mess hall. However, a new set we have not seen has been built for the second season. This is the Port Galley. It was revealed by Wil Wheaton almost one year ago in a special video.

It’s possible some scenes could take place there. For now, we’re treated to some shots of Melissa Navia (Ortegas) and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga relaxes with drinks. Spock (Ethan Peck) also seems to be joining them. If I had to theorize, this is likely them relaxing between the trial with Una and Starfleet Command. We also have the reveal of the Strange New Worlds dress uniforms, with various characters seen wearing them during the trial. We know we’ll also see several other Enterprise crew members wearing the uniform.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ep 2 – Clip

Captain Pike was mostly absent from the first episode of the second season. However, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ep 2 will explain his absence. Pike’s gone on a mission to find Una legal counsel for her upcoming Starfleet trial. The Captain has traveled to the Volterra Nebula and is trying to meet with a lawyer. Actress Yetide Badaki takes on the role of Neera. Her last name seems to be mentioned in the clip below, along with her title of “councilor”.

An interesting detail to take away from this clip is the length Pike is going to. This planet is not habitable for standard human life. The inhabitants have adapted, but Pike is forced to wear an atmospheric breathing mask. The Captain also makes his point by staying put, even when his O2 supply has depleted.

Conclusion

Theory-wise, I am very interested in the relationship between Captain Pike and Captain Batel. She was present a little bit in the first season. The romantic relationship was also quickly established in that season as well. I think we will see it become fractured here in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Ep 2. Batel will be present throughout the second season. However, it would not surprise me if she did not survive. We know “The Gorn” is coming. Therefore, based on the trailers, I think Batel may be in danger with them.

Some fans who have already seen this upcoming episode have compared it to Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “The Measure of a Man”. That was a fantastic episode that included a courtroom drama. Here, we find ourselves in another Star Trek courtroom setting. It takes elements from Star Trek: The Original Series but expands on them like we know Strange New Worlds does. I, for one, am very excited to see how this goes and how the second season’s course is laid out for viewers.

The second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premieres on Thursday, June 15, exclusively on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds streams via Paramount+ in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Latin America, France, Germany, Brazil, South Korea (via Tving), France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland & Austria. As well as CTV Scifi / Crave in Canada, & TVNZ in New Zealand. And from June 16 on SkyShowtime in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Central and Eastern Europe.
