Months ago, we got the news that Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 would be the last of the series. Now at CCXP in Brazil, Star Trek: Discovery has given us a new exclusive clip and release date for this final season! Discovery season 5 will be released in April 2024!
It was the first modern Star Trek series to launch the franchise streaming online via CBS All Access now Paramount+. After setting the stage for numerous other shows like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Discovery is now ending. What does this final trailer tell us? What other news might we have found out? Let’s take a look!
Exclusive Clip
This brand-new and exclusive Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 clip shows us a little of the adventure our U.S.S. Discovery crew will encounter! It seems like Book (David Ajala) and Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) are on a planet with a clue to this galactic mystery. They are facing cloaking insects and we see some fantastic use of the personal transporters during this action scene.
The mystery our crew is embarking on is like a galactic treasure hunt, thousands of years old. I look forward to seeing what other kinds of environments we find ourselves in. Previous trailers showed jungle environments with giant statues, wrecks of Romulan scout ships, and much more!
Discovery @ CCXP
The Star Trek: Discovery panel had star Sonequa Martin-Green and EP/showrunner Michelle Paradise. They spoke about the season as well as what it meant with Season 5 being the final season of the show.
Paramount+ was present not only in panels at CCXP 2023 but also on the show floor! The U.S.S. Discovery’s Captain’s Chair was present at the event for con-goers to take pictures with it!
New Villain’s Ship!
After the actors’ strike ended, Elias Toufexis could finally share some information about Season 5. Elias seems to have a way with antagonists in Star Trek though. He previously previously played the criminal “Cold” in Star Trek: Discovery‘s First Season. He was the Voice of “Galvin” in the recent Trek game Star Trek: Resurgence. Returning to Discovery he now plays one of the main villains in Star Trek: Discovery Season 5. This character is called “L’ak”. They are partners in crime with “Moll” (played by Eve Harlow), both former couriers turned outlaws.
Every villain in Trek needs a cool ship. We have had Shinzon and his Scimitar. Nero and the Narada. Recently added Vadic and her Shrike from Star Trek: Picard to the roster. The Villains of Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 also have a ship of their own! In keeping with the 32nd Century ship aesthetic, the ship features floating nacelles! I wonder what else we might find out about L’ak and Moll’s ship in Season 5?
Star Trek: Discovery Ends With Season 5
Paramount+ announced in March 2023 that Star Trek: Discovery. Initially announced in November 2015, the series debuted in 2017 on CBS All Access, the former brand name of Paramount+.
It’s worth noting that Discovery has been somewhat pivotal to modern Star Trek as a whole. It helped announce then-upstart CBS All Access as one of the first original series for the platform. The show spearheaded the Star Trek Universe in streaming. It pushed us into a new frontier of Star Trek with the 32nd Century. It set the stage for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Michelle Yeoh’s upcoming Star Trek: Section 31 Movie! Not to forget Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which looks to also be set in the 32nd Century!
Conclusion
