NEW Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Clip & News at London Comic-Con

-

We have just gotten a brand new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Clip! There was a full-on trailer early this week, and this isn’t the end for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season two news! It has gotten us very excited about Season Two, and what else might be in store for us!

The stars of the show beamed down (literally) to MCM London Comic Con to give us a little peak at what the Second season has in store for us! From interviews with the cast, to some questions (and maybe answers). So, what else did we find out?

Sneak Peak Breakdown!

As always, we are here to breakdown this brand new clip from the second season of the show! It shows us a courtroom scene of Una’s trial from the very first episode of season two.

For those who may need a refresher, Una was taken into Starfleet custody last season. This was for being an Illyrian. Someone with augmented DNA. As we know, Augments in Starfleet are not allowed. This continues to be law not only up until Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but also Star Trek: Prodigy. So how does Una get out of this one?

Judge Advocate General’s Office!

We’ve had numerous legal episodes of Star Trek in the 60 odd year history of the franchise. Some like Star Trek: The Next Generation’s “The Measure of a Man” was in a very hastily put together Judge Advocate Generals office on a Starbase. The Original Series had multiple court martial scenes set on the U.S.S. Enterprise. Well Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is going a step further and taking us to Starfleet Commands Judge Advocate General’s Office on Earth!

The set of this is absolutely amazing, though it is a redress of the Federation HQ set from Star Trek: Discovery. However this set was a re-use of the Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Section 31 ship set. Which itself was a reuse of the U.S.S. Shenzhou’s bridge from Discovery’s first season. They have definitely gotten their money out of that set!

New Dress Uniforms

We are definitely moving closer to Star Trek: The Original Series‘ era now! Though Star Trek: Discovery gave us similar medals to The Original Series on its uniforms, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is going a step further. The Dress uniform is very much an update on the dress uniform of The Original Series!

We also have the Judges of this court in uniforms similar to Admiral April from Season One of Strange New Worlds! This is most definitely a flag officer uniform, and I am loving what I am seeing.

TOS Tellarites

Star Trek: Discovery gave us a new look for Tellarites, with tusks. Other new shows like Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy have shown Tellarites with and without tusks. Well Strange New Worlds has introduced a new Tellarite character, Space Command Representative Zus Tlaggul. This tellarite is more like those seen in The Original Series and Star Trek: Enterprise.

Just like with the Klingons we saw in the Trailer, Strange New Worlds may be showing that the previous designs still exist, enhancing the diversity of these species!

SNW Logo Animations

Just like Season One, we have gotten some logo animations from artists around the world. This gives us a small indication about what some of the episodes may be about. Regardless of this, the animations are great and really get us in the mood for some Strange New Worlds.

Uhura’s Legacy

Celia Rose Gooding who plays Uhura was present at the event. She got to speak on not only the legacy of Uhura, but what she is continuing to bring to the role in the upcoming second season!

“It’s been amazing, I think I have a very particular situation in reprising an iconic legendary character and getting the opportunity to showcase more of her character”

Celia Rose Gooding on the Legacy of Uhura

We know that Season 2 will take a look at Uhura’s past. She basically joined Starfleet to get away from Earth after her parents and brother died in a shuttle accident in Nairobi. Uhura somehow is transported to the shuttle accident and the aftermath. We don’t know how this happens, whether its mental, or some sort of alien tech situation, but this Uhura episode will definitely hurt.

Ortegas Backstory!

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ first season one did not have a specific episode for our pilot of the U.S.S. Enterprise, Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia). Season Two is looking to rectify this. Even our first promo of Season Two was of an Ortegas centric episode. Well Melissa Navia talked about what we can expect for Ortegas in the second season!

“Fans will get to see what that backstory is and why she is so loyal to her crew mates and her relationship to Pike – we’re definitely getting a lot more back story!”

Melissa Navia on Ortegas’ Backstory

The recent trailer had Ortegas mention doing extreme shuttle manoeuvres during the “War”. This is most definitely a reference to the Klingon-Federation war in Season One of Star Trek: Discovery. We might see what Ortegas was up to during these events, which I am definitely excited to see!

Chief Engineer & Episode 5?

With the gut-wrenching departure of Hemmer in Season One, we knew we were going to get a new Chief Engineer. The final episode may have teased Scotty, but it is still too early. We knew that Carol Kane was going to be the Chief Engineer, called Pelia, for quite a while. We only got a glimpse of what kind of character she is in the recent trailer. However Ethan Peck had some interesting things to say.

“One thing that I loved so much was getting to work with, and become friends with, Carol Kane – that was super fun and exciting – I’m excited for fans to see Ep 5!”

So what might episode 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds have in offer? Could this be the episode where we really start to like this new Chief Engineer of the U.S.S. Enterprise? We will have to keep watching to find out!

Conclusion

Strange New Worlds Season 2 is coming around really quickly. It is nice that MCM London Comic Con have gotten this event of the cast beaming in! Sometimes it feels like the UK is left behind with marketing, from geo-locking content to weird distribution plans. So getting even a small event like this gives a measure of good will back!

The second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Thursday, June 15, exclusively on Paramount+, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays.
