While we’re getting closer to the return of Captain Pike (Anson Mount) later next month, Trek Central can exclusively reveal that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 5 is on the horizon before we even see the next season. Strange New Worlds Season 3 is set to release next month, and production on the fourth season is currently underway. With the reveal of Season 5, this could potentially be the end of this Star Trek series. We’ll explain why further in this article.
A listing in the Writers Guild of America West has revealed that Strange New Worlds Season 5 is on the cards. While it’s exciting to know that we have more adventures of Captain Pike and the USS Enterprise coming up, it is possible that Season 5 could be the end of the line for this Star Trek series. No modern Trek series has made it past 5 seasons at the moment.
Strange New Worlds Season 5 Details
As mentioned, a listing in the Writers Guild of America West has revealed that Season 5 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is potentially on the horizon. At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement from Paramount+. This will likely be announced very soon or revealed at a major event, such as the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2025.
Ultimately, we know very little about Strange New Worlds Season 5. Currently, the focus is on the upcoming third season. However, the fourth season is currently in production. Apart from some location filming leaks, which included Klingon storage boxes, we’ve seen very little from the sets and story.
End of Strange New Worlds
As we mentioned, it is possible that Strange New Worlds Season 5 could be the last of the Captain Pike Star Trek series. The reason we say this is that Paramount+ has been keen to end its modern Star Trek series once five seasons are complete. For example, both Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Lower Decks have reached their fifth season and concluded. Therefore, it is highly possible that Strange New Worlds could meet the same fate.
Although we would not want it to end, we can see the story heading towards an inevitable conclusion. Strange New Worlds has introduced some of The Original Series characters. The upcoming third season even has the future Enterprise Chief Engineer, Montgomery Scott (Martin Quinn), becoming a prominent cast member. We’ve also got James T Kirk (Paul Wesley) running around and joining the Enterprise every 5 minutes.
With Strange New Worlds Season 5 being on the cards, after season 4, we may see more of The Original Series characters joining the USS Enterprise. Of course, Strange New Worlds could go longer than five seasons. I think I speak for many Star Trek fans when I say we would love to see that. Franchise head Alex Kurtzman envisioned Strange New Worlds as an ongoing series that could span the seven years between Discovery’s second season and the accident that injures Pike before The Original Series.
Conclusion
While we wait for Paramount+ to announce Strange New Worlds Season 5 officially, we’re full speed for the third season of the series. This airs on July 17th and will pick up where the second season left off. This was the tense battle with The Gorn, which saw the kidnapping of a few of the USS Enterprise crew members. Season 3 also features Cillian O’Sullivan as Doctor Roger Korby and Rhys Darby as a guest star in an unspecified role.
Strange New Worlds Season 3 premieres on July 17th (2025) on Paramount+ in the US, UK, Canada, Latin America, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Japan. It will also be available to stream on SkyShowtime in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Central and Eastern Europe.
