What to Expect from Star Trek Las Vegas 2024

Star Trek fans! Creation Entertainment holds its long-running Star Trek Las Vegas convention at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino starting Thursday, August 1st, and running until Sunday, August 4th. Over 100 guests officially appear. Some of the promoted guests are William Shatner, Walter Koenig, Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Christopher Lloyd, Anson Mount, and many others.

Furthermore, creatives such as writer Ronald D. Moore, Ira Steven Behr, and Brannon Braga will be present throughout the weekend. Originally, a Writer’s Workshop hosted by Terry Matalas was to be held, but this has since been cancelled. And much more! The following is a breakdown of each day of the convention. Here’s what to expect if you’re planning to attend.

Thursday at Star Trek Las Vegas

All panels are subject to change, and all will be held in the Leonard Nimoy Theatre.

Discovery Recurring Characters panel

  • 10 AM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • Several panels are scheduled at the Leonard Nimoy Theatre featuring the recurring characters from Star Trek: Discovery, including Chelah Horsdal (President Rillak), Alan Van Sprang (Leland/Control), Elias Toufexis (L’Ak), and Rachael Ancheril (Lt. Nhan).

Discovery Bridge Crew panel

  • 12:30 PM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling
  • A “Discovery” Bridge Crew panel featuring Ronnie Rowe (Bryce), Raven Dauda (Dr. Pollard), David Benjamin Tomlinson (Linus), Sara Mitich (Airiam/Lt. Nilsson), Patrick Kwok-Choon (Rhys), Emily Coutts (Detmer), and Orville Cummings (Lt. Christopher).

Enterprise Crew panel

  • 10:45 AM PST, Moderated by Scott Mantz.
  • Scott Mantz will moderate an Enterprise Crew panel featuring Connor Trinneer (Charles “Trip” Tucker III), Dominic Keating (Lt. Malcom Reed), Anthony Montgomery (Travis Mayweather), and John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox).

“Out of Drydock: Relaunching the Enterprise-D” showcase

  • 1:30 PM PST
  • This panel will showcase the work of Picard’s art department: Dave Blass, Liz Kloczkowski, Todd Marks, and draftsmen set designers, Kyle Courter and Kevin Cross. Terry Matalas, Picard Season 3 showrunner, will join to showcase a look at how they recreated the The Next Generation bridge set.

“John de Lancie’s Sailing Adventure”

  • 2:30 PM PST, moderated by Adam Malin.
  • John de Lancie (Q) will be showcasing the exploits of his sea-going adventures.

Deep Space Nine Aliens

  • 3:15 PM PST, Leonard Nimoy Theatre, moderated by Lolita Fatjo.
  • Lolita Fatjo, Star Trek: The Next Generation Executive Producer and production staff member, will be moderating a panel on Deep Space Nine Aliens with everyone’s favorite aliens.
  • Participating members: J.G. Hertzler (General Martok), Robert O’Reilly (Chancellor Gowron), Max Grodenchik (Rom), Chase Masterson (Leeta) attending.

Paul Wesley showcase

  • 4 PM PST, Leonard Nimoy Theatre, moderated by Adam Malin.
  • Paul Wesley, who portrayed a young version of James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will close out the night of panels.

Chase Masterson’s Happy Hour Entertainment

  • 7 PM PST, The Lounge
  • Join Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), Ceila Rose Gooding (Ens. Uhura), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys), and Jon Jon Briones (Confederation magistrate) for an exclusive “Broadway to the Stars” show. Dinner attendance is only available to Gold Convention patrons.

Karaoke Party

  • 9:30 PM PST, DeForest Kelly Theater
  • Enterprise stars and The D-Con Chamber hosts Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating will close out the night with a karaoke session.

Friday

Original Series Guest Stars two-part panel

  • Part I: 9:30 AM PST
  • Part II: 10:15 AM PST
  • Friday features a two-part panel featuring Original Series panel including Barbara Luna (Marlena Moreau), Sean Kenney (wheelchair-bound Captain Pike), and more! Both moderated by Ian Spelling.

Picard Recurring Guest Stars

  • 11 AM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • A panel for recurring Picard stars featuring Ashlei Sharpe Chesnut (Ensign Sydney La Forge) Jonathan del Arco (Hugh) and Todd Stashwick (Captain Liam Shaw).

Walter Koenig Spotlight

  • 12 PM PST, moderated by Adam Malin.

Discovery‘s Found Family panel

  • 1:15 PM PST, Moderated by Laurie Ulster.
  • Discovery’s Found Family panel featuring Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Blu del Barrio (Adira), Ian Alexander (Gray Tal), and Wilson Cruz (Hugh Culber).

The Animated Cast of Lower Decks panel

  • 2 PM PST, Moderated by Bonnie Gordon.
  • The voice cast of Lower Decks panel features Dawnn Lewis (Captain Carol Freeman), Eugene Cordero (Lt. Sam Rutherford), Gabrielle Ruiz (T’Lyn), Tawny Newsome (Beckett Mariner).

Galaxy Quest Cast panel

  • 5 PM PST, Moderated by Kit Bowen
  • The Galaxy Quest Cast panel will feature Daryl Mitchell (Tommy Webber), Enrico Colantoni (Mathesar), Jed Rees (Teb), Missi Pyle (Laliari), Patrick Breen (Quellek), Ve Neill (Special Effects Makeup Master). There will be a screening of Galaxy Quest which will be free for all attendees at the conclusion of the panel.

Plan 9 from Outer Space Live!

  1. 7:30 PM PST, DeForest Kelley Theater
  2. A special one-night only live theater showing of “Plan 9 from Outer Space” featuring Star Trek alums like John DeLancie (Q), Anson Mount (Captain Pike), and Terry Ferrell (Jadzia Dax).

The Amazing Action Figures Band Concert

  • 9:15 PM PST, Leonard Nimoy Theatre
  • A free Amazing Action Figures Band Concert with band members Greg Grunberg and Scott Grimes will conclude the night for many.

Saturday at Star Trek Las Vegas

Like previous days, all events are subject to change and all panels will be held in the Leonard Nimoy Theatre.

Cosplay Parade Meet-Up

  • 9:15 AM PST, Rotunda.
  • Please, bring your best cosplay to attend the Cosplay Parade Meet-Up with a photo op afterward. At 2 PM, a Monster Maroon Group Cosplay where fans will be able to show off their best costumes from the Star Trek films featuring the cast of The Original Series. An evening cosplay contest is also planned.

Michael Westmore spotlight

  • 10 AM PST, moderated by Lolita Fatjo.
  • Makeup supervisor Michael Westmore will discuss his many contributions to the Star Trek franchise.

Deep Space Nine Stars panel

  • 10:45 AM PST, moderated by Lolita Fatjo.
  • Deep Space Nine Stars panel featuring Armin Shimerman (Quark), Nana Visitor (Major Kira), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax), Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko), Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax).

The Star Trek Brain Trust

  • 11:30 AM PST, moderated by Adam Malin
  • The Star Trek Brain Trust panel featuring Ira Steven Behr (TNG, DS9), Ronald D. Moore (TNG, DS9), Brannon Braga (VOY), and Andre Bormanis (VOY). “These are the writers responsible for some of your favorite series and many of the best Star Trek episodes ever.”

From Voyager to New Series

  • 12:15 PM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • This panel will bring Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), and Tim Russ (Tuvok) together to discuss their appearances in Picard and the Doctor’s appearance in Prodigy and beyond!

Kate Mulgrew and John de Lancie “A Conversation”

  • 1:15 PM PST, no moderator.
  • Kate Mulgrew and John de Lancie will “chat on stage in a relaxed, no-moderator format.”

  • 2 PM PST
  • Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troi) and Michael Dorn (Worf) meet to discuss their long friendship from The Next Generation to Picard.

Picard Co-Stars panel

  • 3 PM PST, Moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • Michelle Hurd (Raffi Musiker) and Santiago Cabrera (Captain Rios) discuss their experiences on Picard.

Star Trek Documentaries by 455 Films

  • 4 PM PST
  • Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) provides an update on the upcoming Voyager documentary “To the Journey.” Michael Westmore discusses his upcoming documentary, as well.

Saturday Night Gala

  • 8 PM PST
  • A Saturday Night Gala will feature live entertainment from the Nevada Pops Orchestra conducted by Richard McGee. Additionally, Trek composers Jeff Russo and Jay Chattaway will also join in the festivities as guest conductors, as they all perform music from the various films and TV series heard throughout the franchise.

Sunday

Like all previous days, all events are subject to change and all panels will be held in the Leonard Nimoy Theatre.

Memorable Star Trek Guest Stars

  • 9 AM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • In the morning, Eric Menyuk (The Traveler), Ray Wise (Liko, Arturis), Robin Curtis (Savik), and others will discuss their appearances as some of the most memorable characters in the franchise.

Strange New Worlds Two-Part panel

  • Part I: 9:45 AM PST, moderated by Scott Mantz
    Part II: 10:45 AM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling
  • A two-part Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Cast panel will be held moderated by featuring Babs Olusanmokun (Dr. M’Benga), Jess Bush (Christine Chapel), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), Melissa Navia (Erica Ortegas), Bruce Horak (Hemmer), Dan Jeanotte (Sam Kirk), Anson Mount (Captain Pike), Rebecca Romijn (Number One), Ethan Peck (Spock), Carol Kane (Pelia), Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura), Melanie Scrofano (Capt. Love Story panel

  • 4:30 PM PST, moderated by Adam Malin.
  • At this time, Doug Jones (Saru) and Tara Rosling (T’Rina) return to talk about “the breakthrough couple in Star Trek Discovery.”

Friends panel

  • 5:15 PM PST, moderated by Ian Spelling.
  • Subsequently, Mary Wiseman (Tilly) and Mary Chieffo (L’Rell) talk about their friendship and time on Discovery.

The Trek Rat Pack Show

  • 8:30 PM PST
  • Lastly, the evening will be close out with a performance by the Trek Rat Pack Show shortly after the conclusion of the Final Auction in the Main Theater.

Throughout the Weekend!

First, the Vendors Room will showcase memorabilia from around the franchise and items from various other science fiction properties. Additionally, this will be the site where autographs with your favourite characters will be held. Second, “Behind the Scenes” with Officially Licensed Star Trek Artist Kavita Maharaj will be held in the Star Trek Art Gallery Room from 10 to 11 a.m.

Thirdly, Star Trek Wine & Spirits will offer exclusive surprises and product launches at the convention for those who want to pair their fandom with alcohol. Those who use the secret word “Kobayashi Maru” will receive a small prize while their supply lasts. The cost of each photo and autograph will vary by actor, creator, and production staff member.
