Finally, we’ve got the Strange New Worlds Season 3 Trailer. Set a course back to Captain Pike’s (Anson Mount) USS Enterprise as we near Star Trek’s return to our screens. While Paramount+ still have not confirmed a release date, the trailer did reveal some interesting details. For example, Zombie Klingons. Yes, that is weird, but it is also not unheard of for the Star Trek Universe.
The new Season 3 trailer gives us a glimpse at many new episodes. However, we’ve also got a glimpse at Guest Star Rhys Darby. Trekies are confident that Darby is playing the Star Trek: The Original Series character of “Trelane.” The character, originally played by William Campbell, appeared in “The Squire of Gothos.” Trelane has been mentioned in the Star Trek: Lower Decks Crossover episode for Strange New Worlds.
See our dedicated YouTube video below for a complete breakdown of the new Strange New Worlds Season 3 Trailer.
The Gorn Once Again
Strange New Worlds Season 3 should bring us back to the cliffhanger ending of Season 2. The Gorn attacked, took prisoners, and beat up the Enterprise. We’ve already seen a glimpse of this engagement in another teaser trailer, but it looks like one of the first episodes of the third season will deal with this, as expected.
One scene that sticks out to me in this trailer is when we see an Adult Gorn, who seems very angry. The Gorn looks to be holding up a Starfleet Crew Member, perhaps one of our Enterprise crew, or some Red-Shirt who is likely about to get killed.

It looks to connect to the next scene, which shows La’an (Christina Chong) and other members of the Enterprise Landing Part engaging enemy contacts on the ground with Phasers. The team is likely completing some sort of mission to either warn off the Gorn forces or get the kidnapped crew members back. Either way, I’m very excited for more Gorn adventures and what goes on there.
Zombie Klingons
Klingons are back in Strange New Worlds! There are quite a few interesting scenes in this trailer with Klingons. One notable detail is that some Discovery-era Klingon Starship designs are returning; we can see this shot of Pike watching as a Ship lands. This has been seen in Star Trek Discovery Season One.
More importantly, it seems we’re getting ZOMBIE Klingons running around. Yes, you heard me right. Zombie Klingons. Following the Klingon throwing a whip, we get these shots of Klingons that seem to be mutating into something. There is also a shot of Doctor M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) running away from a door which has some sort of Zombie Klingon exiting it.
Honestly, Star Trek Horror sounds fun. Strange New Worlds is exploring strange new Worlds and new genres for the Star Trek Universe. I’m aware “Supspace Rhapsody” was not everyone’s cup of tea, but a show like Star Trek needs to try these new and whacky things sometimes. It expands the universe. We’ve seen Zombie Vulcans in Star Trek: Enterprise, so Klingons are not too far-fetched.
1950s and Romance!
We glimpse the crew, including Chapel (Jess Bush), Ortegas (Melissa Navia), and Kirk (Paul Wesley), on the set of something out of a 1950s sci-fi adventure. This isn’t anything that Star Trek hasn’t explored before, seemingly an evolution of the Captain Proton adventures throughout Star Trek: Voyager. The real question is how the Enterprise crew found themselves here. While there’s no given answer to that question here, we do get glimpses of the holodeck. Likely, this is where Rhys Darby’s character comes into play.
It’s really exciting to see Strange New Worlds take a break from the time travel antics and alternate universes and do something a little outlandish. Another “blink and you might miss it” scene features Patton Oswalt as a Vulcan with a bunch of rose flowers. Romantic right. No clue how he fits into this storyline, but it’s always great to see Patton turning up in Sci-Fi media.
A couple of romantic scenes appear in this trailer. There are scenes of Spock’s (Ethan Peck) and Nurse Chapel’s relationship blooming. Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) is also meeting someone onboard, and we see Erica Ortegas talking to someone behind them. An Edosian Bartender can be spotted. There is another detail behind this character. The sign almost reads Centennial. Perhaps this is a celebration of the United Federation of Planets. It would set the episode in 2261.
Engineering Troubles On The Enterprise!
It seems the Enterprise is going Analog, and the crew is working via telephone to coordinate the ship. We’ve seen something like this in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where the crew had to relay things around the bridge, so this is not a super new concept. I will bet money that the Vintage Telephones have something to do with Chief Engineer Pelia and her background.
There’s been a murder! And it’s up to the Enterprise crew to figure it out. The whole thing appears to be a sendup of old mystery movies. At the 16-second mark, we see Spock and La’an standing in a Holodeck, with the program loading around them. Shoutout to Pike’s hair; that’s a hell of a makeover. Glad to see the ship’s captain going all in on the fun. This is an episode we’ve known about for some time, set to be directed by the legendary Jonathan Frakes.
The trailer ends with a lovely scene between Scotty (Martin Quinn) and Kirk, foreshadowing their future working relationship onboard the USS Enterprise. Scotty is now a regular crew onboard the Enterprise, with Quinn joining the cast. We’re excited to see how he grows into the miracle worker we all know from The Original Series.
Strange New Worlds Beams To SkyShowtime!
Before we got the Strange New Worlds Season 3 Trailer, another streamer confirmed when Trekkies could return to the USS Enterprise. SkyShowtime, which handles the streaming of some Star Trek series in select European countries, revealed that the third season was coming to their platform on August 1st, 2025. Surprisingly, this was shown in a simple Facebook comment from their official account.
Following our reporting, SkyShowtime reached out to Trek Central to confirm that this comment was “given to one of our members in error and is incorrect”. Still, the information does suggest that Paramount+ have been talking to it’s international streaming partners about when to launch Strange New Worlds Season 3. It’s possible we could still see the third season before August 1st. Typically, SkyShotime get new Star Trek content a few weeks after Paramount+ does.
However, today’s new trailer does confirm that the season will air in the summer. Sadly, this is a rather vague statement, as usual. Today would have been an opportune moment to announce the release date. Furthermore, it would put Trekkies’ minds at ease and give them something to look forward to. We’re rapidly approaching the 5th anniversary since Strange New Worlds was announced. Perhaps we’ll see some news then.
To Bodly Go Once Again…
Okay, everyone, that’s all our news on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds today! I share your frustration with not having a release date. I am very excited for the third season and getting more live-action Star Trek, but WHEN will we see it? Come on, Paramount+. It can’t take that long to produce this date, right?
“First Contact Day” tasks place this weekend on April 5th. It’s possible we could get a release date for Strange New Worlds Season 3, but with this random trailer release in the week, I am not quite sure anything will happen this weekend. If something does, it will likely be for Star Trek: Academy – the next live-action series from the Star Trek Universe.
