Star Trek: Section 31 & Lower Decks Beams To NYCC 2024!

It’s that time of year once again! New York Comic Con is almost upon us. As Star Trek fans, we look forward to this major event, which typically brings us trailers, reveals, and more surprises from the Star Trek Universe. Paramount+ has revealed its plans for NYCC 2024, and we’re delighted to inform you about them! The convention takes place from October 17th to 20th 2024.

NYCC 2024 will see Paramount+ beam down Star Trek: Section 31 and Star Trek: Lower Decks. These will be highlighted during a panel taking place on Saturday, October 19th. The Star Trek Universe panel takes place from 14:30 – 16:00 ET / 19:30 – 21:00 BST. While Section 31 and Lower Decks are the main highlights, Paramount+ hints at “exciting reveals and surprises”.

Star Trek: Section 31 @ NYCC 2024

As the first TV movie in the Star Trek franchise’s long history, all eyes are on Section 31. Therefore, NYCC 2024 will see the cast and producers of Section 31 beam down to discuss it during the Star Trek Universe panel. The TV movie has been described as having bits of comedy, action, and drama. The film is directed by Star Trek: Discovery director Olatunde Osunsanmi.

We don’t know much about Star Trek: Section 31. NYCC 2024 should be the place where we learn some more core details about this upcoming project. Questions need to be answered, like when it is releasing and when it takes place. Currently, we don’t know anything about the plot, outside of knowing it is based around Michelle Yeoh’s character, Phillipa Georgiou.

The cast of Star Trek: Section 31 is vast! Alongside Michelle Yeoh, we have Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Additionally, Miku Martineau (Honor Society), Joe Pingue (The Expanse), and Augusto Bitter (EZRA) are also a part of the cast.

Star Trek: Lower Decks @ NYCC 2024

We’re almost at the end of Star Trek: Lower Decks! The final season is approaching, making this the last major event for Lower Decks. NYCC 2024 will see the cast and producers preview the fifth and final season. The show, created and executive produced by Mike McMahan, stars Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells and Eugene Cordero as four low-ranking officers on the USS Cerritos, who were all promoted in Season 4 from ensigns to lieutenant (junior grade).

I’d expect another trailer for Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 5. However, to be ambitious, I would expect a special preview of the premiere episode of Season 5. There is plenty of time within the NYCC 2024 panel that a Season 5 Episode One screening could be shown to panel attendees. We’ll need to wait and see. Currently it seems Paramount+ are not sharing all the details for there panel.

Beaming Down To NYCC 2024

The Star Trek Universe panel isn’t the only Trek thing happening at NYCC. Our friend over at Fanhome has a booth on the show floor. Head over to Booth #1445 to check out some of their fantastic collections. Additionally, you’ll also find information on their upcoming Star Trek Starships Die-Cast collection and the Build The Enterprise-D collection.

It remains to be seen what surprises Paramount+ have for Star Trek fans. A new show announcement? More of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy revealed? Who knows! With the current Paramount x Skydance merger seemingly creeping closer and closer, it remains to be seen if there will be any new announcements.

If you can’t make it to New York Comic Con 2024, don’t panic. Trek Central will keep you up to date from the ground and live tweeting throughout the weekend. Make sure to follow along for round the clock coverage from the east coasts biggest pop-culture convention!
