New Star Trek: Picard Logs

Star Trek: Picard’s Season 3 is under a week away! With the premiere just happening, and the review embargo over, there are many reviews and interviews out there for this “final TNG Adventure”. But the New Star Trek: Picard Logs over on Instagram has given us a new look at Season 3’s characters. Some interesting new lore, and an insight into Season 3! So let’s take a look at the new logs and see what we can discover about this final season!

Warning ahead, there will be spoilers for the upcoming final season of Star Trek: Picard. You have been warned!

Enterprise F Decommissioned?

We have known for a while that the Odyssey Class, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F was going to feature in Star Trek Picard’s Season 3. We assumed that this ship was going to be commissioned, a new ship for a new century and era for Starfleet. However, this is not the case.

It states that the U.S.S. Enterprise F launched in 2386, a year after the “Attack on Mars” and the end of the Romulan Relocation Mission. The ship was commanded by several Captains during its service. There is no mention if one of these Captains is Va’Kel Shon.

The new Star Trek: Picard logs state that the ship will be decommissioned because of compromised critical systems. This was due to an event called “The Monfette Gambit”, named after Picard writer Christopher Monfette. The ship will have its final flight during an event called “Frontier Day”. Presumably, these are the shots we have seen of fireworks around Earth Space Dock.

Is Captain Saavik in Picard Season 3?

Another one of the new Star Trek: Picard logs gives us some more info on the legacy of the U.S.S. Titan (NCC-80102-A). Apparently, the first U.S.S. Titan was captained by Captain Saavik! And it definitely gives more credence to why the U.S.S. Titan was honored with the letter suffix after its registry.

Captain Saavik was Captain of the USS Titan (NCC-1777) a Shangri La Class starship. The Shangri La Class was first created by Bill Krause, who is the designer of the new U.S.S. Titan-A in Star Trek: Picard Season 3. This isn’t forgetting the Luna Class USS Titan created by Sean Tourangeau, and captained by William T. Riker.

The original Titan was launched in 2290. It is known for its encounters with the Klingon Empire, the Exo-Port Takeover, and the Horizon Colony Rescue! The vessel would even become the Flagship of Starfleet under the recommendation of Captain Sulu of the U.S.S. Excelsior. The ship would be instrumental in maintaining frontier stability before the Khitomer accords between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. And the launch of Enterprise-B.

Crusher Resigned?

Another of the new Star Trek: Picard logs focuses on Dr. Beverly Crusher. It is very interesting, with fascinating new additions to her character lore. Crusher resigned from Starfleet. She has undertaken private medical missions throughout the Alpha and Beta Quadrants on her own ship the S.S. Eleos. Her current whereabouts are unknown, which kicks off the Star Trek: Picard final season adventure!

We know from interviews that Crusher is essentially part of a “Doctors-without-Borders”. She is carrying out medical missions to planets the Federation has abandoned or forgotten about. From a recent interview with Showrunner Terry Matalas, we know a little about this, and she’ll be the first person we see in the season!

Captain Worf

Worf has been an interesting mystery since we knew about his inclusion in Picard Season 3. With Worf mentioned in Picard tie-in content like the novel “The Last Best Hope” by Una McCormack. The new Star Trek: Picard logs don’t confirm or deny this information, which is interesting.

The new Star Trek: Picard logs also say that he reached the rank of Captain and served on the Enterprise-E for a short time. So whether this means he was Captain of the Enterprise-E or not, we can’t confirm yet. Additionally, Worf stepped down because of an “incident on Kriilar Prime”, which we assume will be noted in the show.

We have heard several times from Showrunner Terry Matalas that Worf has not fully gotten over the Dominion War. Whether this Kriilar Prime incident is something to do with that or not, we’ll have to wait to find out!

Riker and the Titan

There is only a little bit of new lore for Captain Riker. After the events of Picard’s first season, where Riker returned to active service aboard the U.S.S. Zheng He to aid Admiral Picard and the Synth home world of Coppelius, he returned to Starfleet.

Most recently, as the former Captain of the U.S.S. Titan, Riker would assist with the refit of the new Titan-A. This new ship would utilize components from the original U.S.S. Titan frame, commanded by Captain Saavik!

New lore for Lore!

We get some new details for malevolent android Lore, which links into another Soong we met in Star Trek: Picard Season 1. It seems that Alton Inigo Soong has died, the Soong that was present on Coppelius. We assume he might have tried transferring his mind to a Golem, just like Picard did, but the process failed. In Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, it was stated that the “Soong Method” was tried several times, but had a low rate of success.

After Altan’s death, Lore was handed over to the Daystrom Institute. So this at least explains where Lore was during the events of Picard Season 1, and that was with Altan. How Lore will fit into the story for this final season is yet unknown. Perhaps we will return to the Daystrom Institute?

Conclusion

So we have some interesting new lore set up as the backstory for Star Trek: Picard Season Three! From where Lore was to the Legacy of the U.S.S. Titan. Plus more great character overviews which help place our heroes and expand their backstories.

We’re excited to find out what the new season has in store for us, not long to go now!
