It’s finally here! Yes, we’re of course talking about the season one finale for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Sadly we’re leaving Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise at Episode 10. However, don’t forget that we have a second season to look forward to. Hopefully arriving sometime in 2023! However, in the meantime, let’s take a look at the preview content for Strange New Worlds Season Finale!

— ? SPOILER WARNING ? —

Titled “A Quality Of Mercy“, the inbound Strange New Worlds Season Finale is bound to leave us with questions. Sadly last week we did indeed lose Chief Engineer Hemmer (Bruce Horak). However, might this hint that someone else could be arriving sometime soon? Additionally, is this time for Pike to rethink his future? Can the good Captain actually change his fate? There are so many questions about the upcoming adventures. Let’s explore.

“In the season one finale, just as Captain Pike thinks he’s figured out how to escape his fate, he’s visited by his future self, who shows him the consequences of his actions.”

Promotional Pictures

Ahead of the Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season Finale, Paramount has released promotional pictures. Take a look at the gallery below. Additionally, the pictures reveal Melanie Scrofano will return as Captain Batel. Previously she was seen in the premiere episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

However, one detail that sticks out revolves around Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding). Notice her rank has changed. It now looks like Uhura has been promoted. Perhaps this is because she has chosen to stay on board the USS Enterprise and accept a commission of sorts. Oooh, we can’t miss a moment to mention Samuel Kirk (Dan Jeannotte) looking good as always.

Teaser Trailer

You’ve got to hand it to the editors! The strange New Worlds Season Finale teaser trailer is really well put together. I’m already guessing and trying to figure out what is going on. However, is there a clue to what is actually going on here? We’re looking at a Starfleet starship under attack from an unknown enemy. Additionally, is this a vessel that has perhaps been rumoured about for some time now?

Looking at both the teaser trailer and the Ready Room Clip, we’re dealing with Romulans. Perhaps pointing back to old classic episodes for Star Trek: The Original Series? Captain Kirk and the USS Enterprise ran into Romulans, so are we seeing Pike do the same? However, we’re 100% seeing someone fire on the Enterprise and both it and the other vessel sustain damage.

We do catch a glimpse of this new Starfleet vessel. However, is it a vessel we know or something we’ve seen before? The ship from one angle resembles an early Miranda-class, yet also from another the Cerritos. Interesting? Wait! You actually can see Romulans in the teaser trailer, pause around 0:30 seconds and you’ll see the classic Romulan Bird Of Prey. We did warn you about SPOILERS!

The Ready Room Clip

This week’s exclusive Ready Room clip confirms we’re dealing with The Romulan Star Empire. Additionally, we’re finally introduced to Maat Al-Salah (Chris River). This is one of the young cadets that Captain Pike will save. Therefore changing his life forever during the tragic accident. This is Pike’s fate, however, has he found a way to do something about it?

Numer One (Rebecca Romijn) has already stated in previous episodes that Pike’s fate may not be certain. This could have been planting the seed for what might happen in the upcoming Strange New Worlds Season Finale. Additionally, she does approach Pike in the teaser clip asking what he wants to do. Given the episode synopsis, we’re going to see something happen here I think. It’s almost obvious.

Strange New Worlds Season Finale – Conclusion!

Romulans, destroyed starships and Captain Pike changing his future? Yeah, you can tell the Strange New Worlds Season Finale is going to be action-packed. However, might we be expecting more? We’ve already done our fair share of theories and such here at Trek Central. You should read some of them. Additionally, it does appear elements of the story are falling into place to line up for the inbound second season.

The idea of Pike changing his future is a question many have asked. However, as some of us know the future of the Star Trek Universe is set in stone. Especially when it comes to The Original Series following Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Therefore if Pike changes his fate with help from his friends, how would it affect the Star Trek Universe. Perhaps this is something we’ll see in the upcoming episode.
