Warp me! We’re at the halfway point for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2. Hard to think we’re almost halfway through the second season. I am hoping we get to The Gorn episodes sooner rather than later. However, fear not! This week, we preview Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 5. Titled “Charades”, it seems we’re getting a Mr Spock (Ethan Peck) centric episode.

Each week Trek Central has brand new preview material for Strange New Worlds. Titled “Charades”, the episode is written by Kathryn Lyn and Henry Alonso Myers, while Jordan Canning takes on the role of The Director for this episode. Lyn has previously written for Star Trek: Lower Decks. She was originally hired as a “canon consultant” on the animated series before being taken on as a writer and executive story editor by Mike McMahan for Lower Decks Season 2.

Preview Pictures

The big reveal from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 5 preview pictures is the return of Amanda Grayson. Actress Mia Kirshner returns to play the character, having previously been seen in Star Trek: Discovery. Carol Kane’s character of Pelia already mentioned Amanda once this season. Therefore fans have been expecting a cameo from Spock’s mother.

Michael Benyaer and Ellora Patnaik take on the roles of T’Pring’s parents. Additionally, Captain Pike is sporting the green uniform once again. He previously wore this in the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. However, the design has been altered a little bit. We’ve also got the treat of more cooking scenes in Pike’s quarters, it seems. At this point, I’d just like a “cooking with Pike” Short Trek. Is that too much to ask for? Please Paramount?

The Ready Room Clip – Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 5

This week’s Ready Room clip for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 Episode 5 features Mr Spock and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush). Both are on a shuttlecraft observing some spacial vortex rupture in space-time. This goes wrong in typical Star Trek form, and both characters are dragged into the spacial vortex. Looking at Chapel’s face, she still feels for Spock, especially as they might be nearing death. Given that this is a Spock-centric episode, I wonder if the story will expand on this.

Spock awakes to find himself in the U.S.S Enterprise’s sickbay. Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Doctor M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) and Nurse Chapel are looking over him. I think the team is clearly concerned about Spock’s new human-like appearance.

Conclusion

Based on the episode synopsis and preview pictures, we see the return of Gia Sandhu as T’Pring. The actress was a standout in the first season of Strange New Worlds. However, where her story goes now will be interesting. Even more so with the fact, Spock appears to have been turned human, or something has happened to him.
