Star Trek Picard Episode 4 Review – “Absolute Candor”

A Thursday marks the arrival of a brand new Star Trek: Picard episode. Titled “Absolute Candor”, episode 4 sees Jean-Luc Picard take his first steps back out into the unknown.

I was super excited to see the entrance of Evan Evagora’s character of “Elnor” in episode 4. Ever since his announcement in 2019, I have waited to see what they would do with him. It’s safe to say that Elnor is a very interesting character and I can’t wait to see how he fits in with Picard’s new crew. A special mention to Actor Ian Nunney who portrayed “Young Elnor” in the opening flashback.

The new book, Star Trek: Picard – The Last Best Hope, by Una McCormack, actually ties in well with the location of this episode. The colony of Vashti is mentioned in the book, so it’s great to see it on screen. Personally, these connections between comics, books and then on screen are something I love.

Overall Episode 4 of Star Trek: Picard is a refreshing sense of adventure. I personally loved the end ship battle and seeing another variation of Rios’s holograms. The return of the old Romulan Bird of Prey was a fantastic addition that makes sense lore-wise.

I have to say, Seven of Nine’s surprise entrance at the end is fantastic. I honestly can’t wait to see more of her character.

Star Trek: Picard Episode 5 “Stardust City Rag” will air on Thursday the 20th of February. International viewers can watch via Amazon Prime Video on Friday the 21st of February.
