Actor Aron Eisenberg from “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” died Age 50

With shock & deep sorrow, all of us at TrekCentral bid farewell to a beloved member of the Star Trek family, Aron Eisenberg, who brought us Nog, the first Ferengi to join Starfleet. He began his acting career in the 1989 movie Beverly Hills Brats & went on to act in movies & TV series before landing his role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (ST: DS9), appearing in the pilot episode, January 1993.

Eisenberg was born without a kidney & underwent his first transplant as a teenager, which limited his growth, & received a second transplant in 2015. In a tender & open Facebook post, his wife,  Malissa Longo, called him her “love & best friend … an intelligent, humble, funny, empathetic soul. He sought to live his life with integrity and truth.” His Star Trek fans & family will not easily forget the courageous & brash young Ferengi who changed himself into a top class member of Starfleet & travelled all the way to the rank of Captain.
